The Fourteenth International Conference on Unity and Plurality in Europe

International Forum Bosnia and the Museum of Herzegovina in Mostar are pleased to say that the Fourteenth International Conference on Unity and Plurality in Europe (ICUPE 14) has been succefuly organized. The programme included a public debate on Bosnian Cultural Heritage in Plural Europe which took place on Monday, July 29th, at the Mostar Cultural Centre (Ul. Rade Bitange 13), beginning at 20:00.

Understanding the role of continuity in Bosnian history requires constant critical (re)investigation of social pluralism in all its aspects. There is, however, an entrenched taboo against even raising the topic of continuity except to deny it. The organisers want to restore the continuity of Bosnian history as a subject of epistemological consideration. The issue was discussed by:

Senada Demirović Habibija (Mostar), Amra Hadžimuhamedović (Sarajevo), Desmond Maurer (Sarajevo), Asim Krhan (Mostar) and Erma Ramić Kunić (Sarajevo).

Senada Demirović Habibija is an architect and expert on Bosnian historical urban landscapes.
Amra Hadžimuhamedović is a renowned international expert on the history of architecture and cultural heritage.
Desmond Maurer is an historian and philologist.

Asim Krhan is Director of the Museum of Herzegovina and expert on the presentation and protection of Bosnian movable heritage.

Erma Ramić Kunić historian and author of the critical edition of the Čajničko Gospels

As part of the evening, Erma Ramić Kunić will present two recent volumes of the Forum Bosnae journal: Bosansko četveroevanđelje: Sofijski odlomci, ed. Mehmed Kardaš, and Paratekstualnost u bosanskoj srednjovjekovnoj književnosti by Lejla Nakaš.

The discussion was chaired by Nerin Dizdar, university lecturer and expert in Bosnian political philosophy.

The debate was open to all members of the International Forum Bosnia and the general public and the media.
