Executive summary

The project ‘Bosnia: Research and Development’—BOSRED III is a continuation of the two phases of the same project that have been completed from January, 1998 to December, 2005. The BOSRED III has as its basis the infrastructure and experience gained thus far within the IFB. The core activities of the BOSRED III are oriented towards the most pivotal requirements of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the processes of accession in the European Union (the EU). Research projects, part of the BOSRED III phase, determined by the most acute demands of politics, culture and economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be followed up by complementary activities including strengthening awareness of civil society in providing sustainability and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These complementary activities include: scholarships, workshops, seminars, conferences, publications, all of which will foster the structuring of more efficient research, educational and business networks compatible with the EU standards. The project is a proposal to be submitted to the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Sarajevo. The duration of the project has been planned for three (3) years. This is the shortest period within which it is possible to articulate and conduct serious research programmes that are to have any significant impact on politics, culture and economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. All these activities will be completed by three (3) regional and ten (10) thematic centres of the IFB.
