The Fourteenth International Conference on Unity and Plurality in Europe

July 29th, at the Mostar Cultural Centre (Ul. Rade Bitange 13),
beginning at 20:00

International Forum Bosnia and the Museum of Herzegovina in Mostar are pleased to announce the Fourteenth International Conference on Unity and Plurality in Europe (ICUPE 14). The programme will include a public debate on Bosnian Cultural Heritage in Plural Europe to take place on Monday, July 29th, at the Mostar Cultural Centre (Ul. Rade Bitange 13), beginning at 20:00.

Understanding the role of continuity in Bosnian history requires constant critical (re)investigation of social pluralism in all its aspects. There is, however, an entrenched taboo against even raising the topic of continuity except to deny it. The organisers want to restore the continuity of Bosnian history as a subject of epistemological consideration. Discussing this issue will be:

Senada Demirović Habibija (Mostar), Amra Hadžimuhamedović (Sarajevo), Desmond Maurer (Sarajevo), Asim Krhan (Mostar), Mirsad Kunić (Tuzla), Joanna Sokołowska Moskwiak (Racibórz, Poland), Amra Šarančić Logo (Mostar) and Asim Zubčević (Sarajevo).

Senada Demirović Habibija is an architect and expert on Bosnian historical urban landscapes.

Amra Hadžimuhamedović is a renowned international expert on the history of architecture and cultural heritage.

Desmond Maurer is an historian and philologist.

Mirsad Kunić is an expert on Bosnian oral heritage and literature as part of world culture.

Asim Krhan is Director of the Museum of Herzegovina and expert on the presentation and protection of Bosnian movable heritage.

Amra Šarančić Logo is an architect and researcher into the typologies of Bosnian Muslim sacral heritage within European religious plurality.

Joanna Sokołowska Moskwiak is an architect and expert in the theory and history of architecture and the conversation of cultural heritage.

Asim Zubčević is a university professor and specialist on the history of Bosnian literacy and the dynamics of Bosnian cultural symbiosis.

As part of the evening, Mirsad Kunić will also present two recent volumes of the Forum Bosnae journal: Bosansko četveroevanđelje: Sofijski odlomci, ed. Mehmed Kardaš, and Paratekstualnost u bosanskoj srednjovjekovnoj književnosti by Lejla Nakaš.

The discussion will be chaired by Nerin Dizdar, university lecturer and expert in Bosnian political philosophy.

The debate is open to all members of the International Forum Bosnia and the general public and the media.
