Ninth International Conference


Sarajevo, 16–19 May 2023

International Forum Bosnia and the International Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support and cooperation of a number of institutions and organisations, will be hosting the 9th International Conference on Sarajevo and the World from the 16th to the 19th of May 2023.

The conference programme includes five components.

16 May (Tuesday)

12.30–13.00 Opening Address

13.30–16.30First Panel: Public Urban Space in a Time of Transition

19.30–21.00 Public Discussion of 250 Years of the Ballad of Hasan Aga's Wife in Global Culture: On Rusmir Mahmutćehajić's The Mystery of Hasan Aga's Wife (Sarajevo: Mladinska knjiga, 2022)

17 May (Wednesday)

15.00–18.15 Second Panel: Defending Bosnian and Herzegovinian Statehood and Society during the War: Perspectives and Accounts from Direct Witnesses

18 May (Thursday)

11.00 – 14.30 Third Panel: On Bosnia and Herzegovina's Energy Future

19 May (Friday)

10.00 – 15.30 Fourth Panel: On the Future of Bosnia and Herzegovina –Different Views

All these events are open to the public and the media. Details on participants and the schedules for the individual events will be provided soon.

The Conference is being held with support from the Sarajevo Canton government, the City of Sarajevo, the municipality of Novo Sarajevo, the University of Sarajevo, the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Bosniak Institute in Sarajevo.
