EIGHTH SARAJEVO UN WORLD INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK
February 3–7, 2020

International Forum Bosnia is honoured to present its programme to mark the Eighth Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, to run from February 3 to 7, 2020. It includes the following events:

• A public discussion of Religious Pluralism in Bosnia: Past, Present, and Future, February 5 (Wednesday), to start at 18:00, IFB premises (ul. Sime Milutinovića Sarajlije 10/III)

Approaches to religious pluralism inherited from the recent past increasingly represent an obstacle to the realisation of individual and collective freedoms in Bosnian society. It should be the role of the religious communities to counter this. More open interpretations of our religious heritage would encourage and strengthen our sense of responsibility as individuals for Bosnia’s political, cultural, and economic future. They would also help protect the public sphere from attempts to impose rigid religious identities on or exclude individuals or groups. Participants will discuss this and related issues. Mile Babić, Krsto Mijanović and Rusmir Mahmutćehajić will provide introductory comments.

• A public discussion on the theme of Some important recent books for understanding religious pluralism in Bosnia: Hans Küng, Judaism: Between Yesterday and Tomorrow (trans. John Bowden, New York: Continuum, 1992); Lejla Nakaš, Divoševo evanđelje: Studija i kritičko izdanje teksta (Sarajevo, Institut za jezik, 2019) and Sachiko Murata and William Chitick, Vizija islama: Temelji muslimanske vjere i prakse (trans. Amila Karahasanović, Sarajevo: Connectum: 2019). Friday, February 7, 2020, at the IFB premises (ul. Sime Milutinovića Sarajlije 10/III), to start at 18:00.

Reducing religious pluralism to the purely private can only deepen the current crisis in Bosnian society. We believe that these three books can contribute to a better understanding of the public religious pluralism that is constitutive of Bosnian society and culture. Jakob Finci, Ema Mazrak and Samir Beglerović will present the books, to be followed by a discussion open to the public.

Both events are open to the media and the general public.

Report on the 12th Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week International Forum Bosnia held as announced its programme of events to mark the 12th Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week. The key theme of this year's programme was Global Ethics: Urgent Questions and Challenges.
The 12th Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week Global Ethics: Urgent Questions and Challenges. International Forum Bosnia will be holding a programme of events to mark the 12th Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week this year in response to the appeal by the UN General Assembly session held on October 20, 2010, to member-states. While International Forum Bosnia will, as usual, be organising and coordinating the activities, a number of other national and international organisations and societies will also be participating and contributing. The key themes of this year''s programme are summed up in the title: Global Ethics: Urgent Questions and Challenges. The programme will take place on Wednesday the 5th of February and Thursday the 12th of February.
Sixth International Colloquium on Bosnian Oral Tradition in World Culture We are pleased to inform members and friends of International Forum Bosnia that the Sixth International Colloquium on Bosnian Oral Tradition in World Culture will be held on December 9 (Saturday), to start at 11 a.m. The colloquium will be held in the meeting room of International Forum Bosnia (Sime Milutinovića 10/III).

Public Discussion of 250 Years of the Ballad of Hasan Aga's Wife in World Culture: On Rusmir Mahmutćehajić's Hasanaginica As part of International Forum Bosnia's Ninth International Conference on Sarajevo and the World (ICSW9), held from May 16 to 19, 2023, there was a public discussion on 250 years of the ballad of Hasan Aga's Wife in Global Culture: On Rusmir Mahmutćehajić's Hasanaginica (Sarajevo: Mladinska knjiga, 2022) .
